Couldn't load pickup availability
The Origen Hadean Alabaster Wall Sconce sets raw-edge slabs of natural alabaster in a hand-forged brass branch, so the stone keeps the broken edge it came out of the block with. Light passes through rather than bouncing off it, turning each slab into a slow, layered glow that carries its own veining.
Six sizes run from 10" for a narrow hallway to 26" for a stairwell or a double-height entry, and every size can be ordered as a pair. Hardwired, indoor rated, and available in warm white by default.
Raw-Edge Stone
The Break Is Left In
Each slab keeps the edge it had when it came off the block — no sanding it into a neat oval. The outline, the thickness and the veining differ on every piece, so your sconce will not match these photographs.
That is how quarried stone arrives, and it is the reason to use it.
Ordering a Pair
Choose the size marked (×2) rather than adding two singles to the cart. The set is priced lower, and both slabs are selected from stone picked at the same time, so the two pieces stay in one family of tone.
Why This One
Stone Split,
Brass Bent Around It
01
A broken edge, kept
Every slab is split rather than cut to a template, so the silhouette of your piece exists once. Two orders of the same size do not arrive looking the same.
02
Brass that grips the stone
The branches are forged and bent by hand around each slab, so the metal reads as something that grew there rather than a bracket bolted on.
03
Light in layers, not a panel
Stacked slabs overlap, so the glow builds up where stone sits over stone and thins at the raw edges — closer to light through a mineral than light through a shade.
04
Six sizes, single or pair
From a 10-inch piece beside a door to a 26-inch piece on a stairwell, and every size can be ordered as a pair.

Six Sizes
From a Powder Room
to a Stairwell
The same piece is built at six scales. The jump from the fourth size up is a big one, so read the wall before the price.
| ⌀ 10″ × H 15.2″25 × 39 cm | Beside a door, in a powder room, or on a narrow strip of hallway wall. |
| ⌀ 14.6″ × H 19.3″37 × 49 cm | The bedside size — clears a nightstand without taking over the wall. |
| ⌀ 15.7″ × H 22.4″40 × 57 cm | Flanking a mirror or a fireplace, where the pair has to hold its own. |
| ⌀ 21.3″ × H 34.3″54 × 87 cm | Above a console or a sofa, read from across the room. |
| ⌀ 22.4″ × H 37.4″57 × 95 cm | A single statement piece on a long, otherwise empty wall. |
| ⌀ 26.4″ × H 45.3″67 × 115 cm | Stairwells, double-height entries and anywhere the wall runs past 10 ft. |
| Reading the numbers | The first figure is the widest point of the stone, the second is the overall height including the brass. Slab outlines vary, so treat both as within about half an inch. |
| Rule of thumb | A sconce should sit at roughly a quarter to a third of the height of the wall it is on. On an 8 ft wall that is the 15″ to 22″ range; a stairwell takes the two largest. |
| Mounting height | Centre of the fixture at 60–66″ off the floor for a hallway or mirror, 50–56″ beside a bed. For the two largest sizes, hang by eye rather than by rule — they read better slightly higher. |
| Buying a pair | Choose the size marked (×2). Both slabs are then selected together, and the set is priced below two singles. |
Selecting Your Stone
Every Slab Is Chosen,
Not Ordered
Stone in our workshop, cut for several different pieces — shown for the range of the material, not the shape of this fixture.
Slabs are pulled from the block one at a time and set aside by hand, so the piece that reaches you was picked rather than produced. On the stacked sizes, the slabs are also chosen against each other, so the layers agree in tone.
Tell us a direction before the order goes into production and we can steer it. We can also photograph the actual stone before it ships.
Tell Us a Direction
| ✓ | Paler and more even |
| ✓ | Stronger grey movement |
| ✓ | Warmer, amber-toned |
| ✓ | A more dramatic raw edge |
| ✓ | Two slabs matched as closely as possible |
Any of these we can work toward. A specific pattern from a photograph we cannot.
Off and On
A Sculpture by Day,
a Glow at Night
Unlit, it is pale stone and brass on the wall. Lit, the light finds the thin places in the slab and leaves the thick ones dark.
Unlit in a real room, mid-afternoon. The two studio views above were shot at a different angle.
| By day | Cool white stone with grey and amber movement, held in warm brass. This is the state it spends most of its hours in. |
| Switched on | Light passes through the thin sections and stops at the thick ones, so the slab lights unevenly on purpose — bands rather than a flat panel. |
| What it lights | Accent light. It lifts a wall and a corner; it is not meant to light a whole room, so pair it with a lamp where you read. |
| Colour | Warm white as standard. Ask before ordering if you need a different temperature — cool white flattens the stone. |
Choose the wall for the unlit piece — the glow is the easy part.
Where It Goes
One Piece, or Two
Facing Each Other
A single slab works where it can sit off-centre. Over a bed or a sofa wall, two pieces set a rhythm that one cannot.
Living RoomSingle
Above a side table, where a lamp would take the surface
BedroomPair
One each side of the bed, set at the same height
Sofa WallPair
Bracketing the backdrop wall, read from across the room
| Going with one | Beside a door, above a side table, or off-centre on a short wall. Pick a size at a quarter to a third of the wall height. |
| Going with two | Choose the size marked (×2) rather than adding two singles — the set is priced lower and both slabs are picked from stone selected at the same time. |
| Hanging a pair | Both junction boxes at exactly the same height, 36–42″ apart over a bed. Buy the second piece months later and the two will not agree. |
| Scale on a feature wall | On a sofa backdrop or a stair wall, go one size up from what looks right on paper — distance eats the detail in the stone. |
Two pieces of quarried stone will never be identical — ordered together, they at least come from the same family.
The Design
Something Growing
Out of Broken Rock
The starting point was a plant forcing its way through a split rock face — the moment where something soft gets the better of something hard. That is why the brass is drawn as a vine rather than a bracket: it wraps the slab, follows the break, and stops where the stone stops.
Nothing about the stone is corrected. The edge stays broken, the thickness stays uneven, and the light does what it likes inside it. What was chaotic in the quarry reads as calm on a wall.
Raw material, left raw — and lit from behind.
The Material
Quarried Stone and Brass,
Not Resin and Plate
The same silhouette gets made in cast resin with plated trim. Here is where the two part company.
| Alabaster & Brass | Resin · Plated Alloy | |
| The glow | Light crosses the slab unevenly, bright where the stone thins at the break and deep where it stacks. | One flat, even panel of light, the same on every unit. |
| The edge | Split, not cut — the outline of your piece exists once. | Moulded to a template, so every edge repeats. |
| The metal | Solid brass, forged and bent around each slab, treated against oxidation. | Thin plated alloy; the coating chips and lifts at the joints. |
| Weight and touch | Dense and cool, with grain you can feel at the raw edge. | Light and hollow, and it sounds like it when tapped. |
| Over the years | Stone keeps its colour; brass mellows slowly and evenly. | Resin yellows near heat and clouds; plating peels. |
A mould can copy this silhouette. It cannot copy a break that happened once.
Installation
Hardwired, and
Heavier Than It Looks
A slab of quarried stone weighs more than a shade of the same size. The wiring is standard; the fixing is where to spend the attention.
The 15.7″ size drawn to scale in a 9 ft room, centred at 62″. Room, console and figure for reference only.
01
Weigh the wall first
Stone starts at 3 kg and climbs with every size. Check what the junction box is fixed to before anything else — drywall alone will not hold the larger sizes.
02
Cut the power
Switch off at the breaker, not just the wall switch, and confirm the wires are dead.
03
Fix the bracket
Mount the bracket to the box with anchors rated for your wall type. Leave it loose until the piece hangs level.
04
Connect and seat
Black to black, white to white, ground to the green screw. Tuck the wires back, then seat the fixture and tighten.
05
Check it by eye
The slab has a top and a bottom as shipped. Step back before the final tighten — a raw-edge piece looks wrong long before a level says so.
Fixing by Wall Type
| Drywall with a stud | Fix into the stud. This carries every size in the range. |
| Drywall, no stud behind | Toggle or snap anchors rated well above the fixture weight — and not the two largest sizes. |
| Brick, block or plaster over masonry | Masonry anchors. Drill slowly; the dust is what tells you what you are in. |
| Tile | Drill on low speed with a tile bit, into the grout line where you can, and seal the hole before fixing. |
| Mounting height | Centre of the piece at 60–66″ off the floor for a hallway, console or mirror; 50–56″ beside a bed. On the two largest sizes, hang by eye — they read better slightly higher. |
| Hanging a pair | Both boxes at exactly the same height, 36–42″ apart over a bed. On an irregular slab, a difference of half an inch shows immediately. |
| Two people | From the 21.3″ size up, one person holds the weight while the other makes the connection. Stone chips if it touches the wall on the way in. |
| No bulbs to fit | The LED is integrated, so there is nothing to install after the fixture is up and nothing to replace later. |
Send us your wall type and the size you are considering — we will tell you what it needs before you order.
Care & Cleaning
Dry Cloth,
Nothing Wet
Do
| ✓ | Dust the stone and the brass with a dry, soft cloth. |
| ✓ | Support a slab from beneath rather than pressing on its face. |
| ✓ | Wipe along the brass branches, not across them. |
| ✓ | Check the mounting screws once a year. |
Don't
| ✗ | No water, glass cleaner, vinegar or alcohol on the stone. |
| ✗ | Never spray at the fixture — liquid runs into the fitting. |
| ✗ | No metal polish on the brass; it cuts through the finish. |
| ✗ | Don't lever a slab to straighten it — contact us instead. |
| Raw edges | The broken edge is the thinnest part of the slab. Keep cloths and rings away from it when you dust. |
| Brass over time | Hand-forged brass is treated against oxidation, but it still mellows slowly. That shift in tone is normal. |
| No bulb to change | The LED is integrated, so there is no routine reason to open the fixture. Dusting is the whole of the maintenance. |
A chip or a fresh mark on alabaster is often improvable — send us a photo before you try anything.
