Small blue-glazed bowls thrown by hand in Arizona from dragonfruit clay, in three sizes — 4, 6 and 8 ounces. Speckled body, pale blue interior, and glaze that pools darker wherever the wall turns.

Dragonfruit clay and the blue glaze

The clay body is speckled rather than uniform, and the blue glaze sits over it thinly on the rims and thickly in the curves. That is why the interiors read paler than the outsides and why the turquoise breaks toward deep blue where the glaze gathers. Nothing about it is printed or applied after firing.

Microwave-safe and dishwasher-safe. Fine for hot food and cold.

These are one-of-a-kind pieces from a small studio. Size, color, grain and glaze effects vary between bowls and between batches, and the stated capacities are estimates rather than measurements. A 6 oz bowl from one firing may sit a little taller or hold a little more than a 6 oz bowl from the next.

Are they safe for hot soup?

Yes. The bowls are microwave-safe and hold heat well.

Can they go in the dishwasher?

Yes.

Will the three sizes look like a matched set?

They will read as a family, not as a factory set. Same clay and same glaze, but each bowl is thrown and glazed by hand, so the color and surface vary.

What does "dragonfruit clay" mean?

It is the name of the clay body our artisan partner uses — a speckled stoneware. It is not a fruit additive or a scent.

Are the sizes exact?

No. They are estimates. Handmade ceramics vary from batch to batch, so treat 4, 6 and 8 ounces as approximate capacities.

How do these differ from your 14 oz vessels?

The 14 oz vessels are a different clay and come in seven glaze colors. These are dragonfruit clay with a blue glaze, and they are smaller.
